Babe Ruth tops a poll of “The Best Baseball Players of All Time”.
A recent poll asked over 1,000 adults who’s the best player in baseball HISTORY, and a whopping 48% said Babe Ruth.
Here’s the Top 10…
1. Babe Ruth, 48%. He played from 1914 to 1935.
2. Jackie Robinson and Mickey Mantle are tied, with 5% apiece. Robinson played from 1947 to 1956, and Mantle played from 1951 to 1968.
4. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Derek Jeter are tied, with 4% apiece. Aaron played from 1954 to 1976. Mays’ career stretched from 1951 to 1973, and Jeter just retired in 2014. He made his debut in 1995.
7. Joe DiMaggio, Pete Rose, Ken Griffey Jr., and Lou Gehrig are all tied, with 2% apiece.
DiMaggio played from 1936 to 1951 . . . Pete Rose played from 1963 to 1986 . . . Griffey Jr. played from 1989 to 2010 . . . and Gehrig played from 1923 to 1939.
The remaining 22% of the vote went to players like Ted Williams, Barry Bonds, Cal Ripken Jr., Johnny Bench, and Reggie Jackson, but none of them were able to get at least 2% on their own.
And Stan Musial DIDN’T make the cut??!!
Only two of the Top 10 have played in the past 30 years, so perhaps it’s not surprising that Babe Ruth was also tops among millennials. Almost HALF of people in their 20s chose him as the best player.
