Merriam-Webster’s “Word of the Year” perfectly describes 2016.

Merriam-Webster dictionary announced their “Word of the Year” for 2016 yesterday, and it was surreal. No, the word itself was “surreal” meaning “very strange or unusual; having the quality of a dream”.
