Start the Year Eating Lucky

Some superstitious people believe what you eat for your New Years Eve dinner can set a beneficial or unlucky tone for your entire year. What should you avoid in order to not put “the gooch” on your 2017?

The International Business Times reports that LOBSTER and CHICKEN should be eliminated from your New Years celebration. How come? Well, lobsters can move backwards and chickens can scratch in reverse, so it is thought these foods could bring a reversal of fortune. They say people have believed these “truths” for hundreds of years.

The superstitious specialists say it’s good luck to eat foods like black eyed peas, ham and cabbage because it is thought they bring prosperity.

I’ve got a BIG problem with this. I’m not a fan of ham and cabbage and I love Lobster. Oh yeah, I live on chicken too! The good stuff is always bad for you. I just didn’t know they were bad luck too! So to offset the bad luck I’ll get from killing an order and a half of Lobster Ravioli Thursday night, I’ll not open an umbrella inside twice as much as I would normally and I’ll be extra careful handling mirrors.
