If there’s one thing you should know about St. Louis, it’s that we love beer and our furry friends. And what’s even better is all the great restaurants & bars where you can take your pooch and enjoy some good eats & ice, cold drinks. Not many places welcome our four-legged friends with open arms, so that’s why today’s 5 On Friday is dedicated to some of the best bars to bring Fido to in The Lou!
THREE KINGS PUBLIC HOUSE
If you’ve never been to Three Kings Public House in University City, do yourself a favor and get in the car with your pup on a nice sunny day and treat yourself to some delicious grub and a nice cold beer. Three Kings has ample outdoor seating for you to soak up some sun while hanging with your dog. Oh, and they have a decent beer selection, too. Rotating often, you can try beers from local breweries like Schlafly, Civil Life & 4 Hands, or try something from out west from Deschutes or New Belgium. No matter your preference, there’s something there to quench your thirst while taking in the sites & sounds of U-City — which can always be fun & exciting.
SQUARE ONE BREWERY & DISTILLERY
If you frequent Lafayette Square, then you’re probably familiar with Square One. Square One is one of the first micro distillery/restaurants in Missouri, and have made quite the name for themselves. With several craft beer options and their own spirits, this is the place to be if you’re looking for something unique. After just revamping their patio, it’s definitely a destination to bring your dog. My suggestions for you? Their Goat Cheese Artichoke Spinach Dip is amazing! Wash it down with one (or two) of their craft beers. My favorites? Their Barely Wine and their Spicy Blonde. –Mmmmm!
MOLLY’S IN SOULARD
It’s not hard to believe that Molly’s is a St. Louis favorite. With a gorgeous outdoor patio, wide drink selection and a bit of Cajun food, it’s a place to go with Fido! And what’s better than that? I don’t know, maybe their Creole inspired BRUNCH on Sundays with all you can drink mimosas? — YES, PLEASE! Sure it’s a two hour time limit, but get your sip on while drinking your vitamin C and enjoying the company of your best friend(s).
SASHA’S WINE BAR ON SHAW
Maybe you’re more of a wine connoisseur, no problem. Enjoy their wide variety of wines and their spacious patio. One of the best parts about Sasha’s On Shaw is that their patio is great for all types of weather! If it’s a bit chilly, you and your pup can cozy up next to their fire pit. If it’s a hit warm, there’s plenty of shade to accommodate you. What’s also great about Sasha’s is how close it is to Tower Grove Park so you can take your four-legged friend over there for them to run around & stretch their legs!
Where do I even begin with this little gem? The first time I went for dinner & drinks at The Royale, I was blown away buy their small but mouth-watering menu and of course, their extensive cocktail & spirits list. Holy, moley I’m drooling just thinking about their delicious Mediterranean pita wrap. Mmmm. And my drink recommendation? The Apple Buck — Applejack brandy, a bit of lemon juice and a ginger beer, on the rocks — DELISH! Pretty much, you can’t go wrong with any of the selections at The Royale. And their patio? Absolutely perfect for some dog hangs with your friends.
