Footage of the Train Crash in Spain That Killed 80 People
There’s surveillance footage of the high-speed train derailment that killed 80 people in Spain on Wednesday. It’s pretty crazy, because it’s from a security camera right next to the track and the train is coming toward it. Then it takes out the camera.
It’s still not clear at this point, but the early indications are that the crash wasn’t caused by a technical error and may have been caused by human error.
When it crashed, the train was going around a bend where the suggested speed limit is 50 miles per hour. But the train was going closer to 120 miles per hour.
Last year, the conductor posted a message on Facebook bragging about how fast he could go. He also posted a photo that showed the train’s speedometer hitting 200 kilometers per hour… or about 125 miles per hour.
Here’s the video of the crash.
