A Tip To Help You Sleep Better

Jill Devine

Do you have trouble falling asleep?  I know there are nights where I can’t turn my brain off and it takes forever to fall asleep.  Especially with the wedding coming up, I keep thinking of things that need to be done.  Well, experts say one of the main reasons we have trouble falling asleep is because we take our phones or tablets to bed and they distract us.  I don’t know about you, but I am not going to stop doing that.  I use my phone or iPad as my “goodnight reading”!  So, what’s my other option?

Researchers in Switzerland found you can fall asleep quicker if you wear socks to bed.  When you’re about to fall asleep, your body redirects more blood to your hands and feet.  Once they are warm, your blood starts circulating around the rest of your body, which makes you go to sleep.  So, if you are wearing socks, your feet warm up faster which means the blood can circulate around your body sooner.

I have noticed that my feet are always cold when I go to bed and maybe that is one reason I don’t fall asleep quickly.  BUT, I cannot stand to wear socks, so I don’t think I can do this.  I guess if I am desperate enough, I will try it.
