Tip #2: Lose the chips, but keep the salsa!
Eating healthy is a huge part of losing weight. I’m like a lot of people – I LOVE food. I’d rather workout more so I can eat what I want. But sometimes it’s just about eating SMARTER. One of my secrets is salsa. It’s a great food – lots of veggies and with some seasoning/spice you can add some great flavor, too. Just watch the labels – some jarred salsas have a lot of sugar in them. I look for a salsa that has 1 gram of sugar or less.
You can eat a lot of salsa and not have to worry about many calories, or even fat. The chips are the killer, though. So if you’re really craving a snack you can pair salsa with some chopped green/red/yellow/orange bell pepper, carrots, or what ever veggie you’d like.
I also swear by this simple salsa chicken recipe that requires 4 ingredients, and takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. It’s so good, and your family will love it, too (even if they’re not dieting). Here it is:
Salsa Crock Pot Chicken
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
12-16 oz jar of salsa
1 packet of taco seasoning
1 tsp of white vinegar
Dump everything in your crock pot on low for 6-8 hours. By the end, the chicken should fall apart. Serve with tortillas and toppings of your choice. Great on salad, too, and there’s enough flavor in the salsa that you don’t need salad dressing. Enjoy!
