Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter P!nk announced that she will tour North America for the first time in four years, beginning on February 13, 2013. The Truth About Love Tour presented by COVERGIRL is in support of her new album, The Truth About Love. Pink recently spoke with Mix 94.1/Las Vegas and discussed her new album, previous radio hits and why she doesn’t watch reality singing competiton shows.
Though she just became a mom while writing and recording her latest album, P!nk said the album isn’t about her daughter.
“It’s during Willow but it’s not about Willow,” she said. “First of all, the best lullabies have already been written. Her and I’s song and story I think is going to be more of a conversation [in] later years.”
With all her hits over the years P!nk explained that there are a few tracks that have been a surprise.
“I feel like I have a pretty good idea of who’s going to like what, why. But who knows?” she said. “The first time we released ‘Who Knew’ I think it got played in the U.S. a total of seven times by radio. And then it got released a year later and went No. 1. So, I think it’s a timing thing and it’s how much people can stand you at the moment. It’s been a while so I’ve watched everything go up and down, all around back to where we are right now. It’s kind of cool.”
P!nk talked of her respect for Kelly Clarkson, citing, “there’s true talent,” so did the singer ever consider joining American Idol where Clarkson got her breakthrough?
“They did [go after me]. It’s not that I don’t like the shows, I don’t watch the shows,” she said. “I don’t have an opinion one way or the other. I’m a touring person. I’m a gypsy, I like to keep it moving. I feel like in 20 years when I want to stay home, that’s the kind of job you take.”
I don’t watch American Idol, I’m not aware of any feud between anyone nor do I care. Just to clarify. Have a lovely day!
