Midwest Flooding Continues To Threaten Towns Along The Mississippi

Terrible fire in Y98’s neighborhood tonight.  If you were watching America’s Got Talent, you are aware of this fire.  KSDK broke in during the show (to the irritation of some viewers) to report on this massive, five alarm fire.

As of now, there is speculation that the fire began in a  penthouse apartment and spread like wildfire.  The fire started shortly after 7pm and was quickly declared a five alarm fire with close to 200 firefighters from both the city and county battling the blaze.  Of all the nights to battle a MAJOR fire, a night with temperatures in the 90s.  Around 8pm, firefighters were told to evacuate.  At times, there was worry that the building would collapse from the weight of the water.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and did a second sweep looking for anyone trapped and animals.  The Missouri Humane Society has been generous enough to allow displaced residents to house their animals at the shelter on Macklind until a more permanent home is found.

Andy Banker from Fox 2 tweeted that a good samaritan was offering hotel rooms for displaced residents.

The Red Cross are on hand helping residents.  So sad!
