Have you seen the previews for the new TV show that will be on E!?  It’s called “Opening Act”.  A lot of people are writing it off as another singing competition, but after reading about it … it’s much more than that.

“American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” producer, Nigel Lythgoe, is on the hunt for unknown amateurs to open up for artists such as: Nicki Minaj, Jason Mraz, LMFAO, and Jason Adlean.

“Opening Act” follows Nigel and his team as they review Internet videos of hopeful singers before offering a select few a life-changing opportunity.  The chosen contestants will sing in front of thousands of fans before the main artist hits the stage, BUT they will only have five days to prepare.  A development team (Jason Derulo, Pete Wentz, and Martina McBride) will offer advice to the contestants.

Nigel says “Opening Act” is different from all the other talent-oriented reality shows because there are no judges giving critiques or eliminations.  “Opening Act” premieres July 9th at 9p.  I might have to check this show out and my reason … it’s mean, but I am being honest … I want to see if any of the contestants choke while on stage.
