Carly Rae Jepsen’s infectious hit may be the song of the summer that has inspired a million and one covers, but don’t expect to hear Gym Class Heroes covering it anytime soon.

In fact, when the guys sat down with CBS Local, singer Travie McCoy wasn’t even sure what the song was.

“What’s that?” he asked.

“It’s the song, that pop song,” drummer Matt McGinley prompted him.

“Honestly, I haven’t heard the song enough to have built up the urge to want to cover it. Let alone listen to it.”

Sounds like McCoy is one of the only people in America who has managed to avoid the almost unavoidable #1 song in the country.

“We do a fair amount of covers when we’re just messing around,” McGinley said. “But we’re talking about ‘When Doves Cry’ [by Prince] and ‘I Keep Forgetting’ by Michael McDonald. So if that song has that [same] kind of lasting power as those songs then maybe in like 25 years we could touch it but I don’t know. We’ll see.”
