This month, Christie Lampe of Edwardsville-Glen Carbon wrote in to tell us about an amazing project her organization is doing in Illinois. The Junior Service Club of Edwardsville-Glen Carbon is currently raising money to build a Boundless Playground in their community. This special playground will be the first, inclusive playground in the Edwardsville-Glen Carbon area and will allow children and families with and without disabilities to play alongside each other in a truly accessible play area.
Although at first glance the playground will appear like any other modern playground, it has been designed with maximum accessibility in mind. It will feature ramps instead of stairs, swings and bouncers with back support, and hand rails to assist those with vision or mobility needs, while still providing a challenging and fun experience for children without any special needs.
Take a look at the photos below, and visit edglenjuniorservice.org to learn more about this great project and make a donation!
