Plus the parties’ most hated celebs, celebs joining the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, and “The Simpsons” on their way out?!?!  It’s the Schmig for Friday, October 7th, 2011!

The “Hollywood Reporter” just did a poll on Democrats and Republicans and their movie choices. Republicans tend to like more family movies, including:

  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
  • Thor
  • Soul Surfer
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
  • Secretariat

Democrats like movies that are a little edgier:

  • Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family
  • Bad Teacher
  • Easy A
  • The Social Network
  • Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Movies that crossed movie lines:

  • Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
  • Midnight in Paris
  • The Lincoln Lawyer
  • Rio
  • Limitless

Other interesting info from the poll:

  • 52% of Republicans say they’ve avoided a movie because of the star’s politics (36% of Democrats have done the same)
  • 62 % of Democrats say Hollywood portrays America in a positive light (39% of Republicans agree)
  • 44% of Republicans think Hollywood protrays the military in a negative light (21% of Democrats agree)

Stars Republicans avoid:

  • Michael Moore – 60%
  • Jane Fonda – 48%
  • Whoopi Goldberg – 47%
  • Oprah Winfrey – 46%
  • Sean Penn – 40%

Stars Democrats avoid:

  • Mel Gibson – 36%
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger – 30%
  • Tom Cruise – 27%
  • Kelsey Grammer – 14%
  • Jon Voight – 13%
